On 6th and 7th March 2021, Sacred Heart Church had a Pastoral visit by Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of the diocese. It was indeed a memorable and happy day for all the parishioners because almost after 8 years, the parish was having a pastoral visit.
Bishop arrived at 9:30 AM and was welcomed by Fr Basil Vas, Parish Priest, Fr Jerome Dsouza, Principal, Fr Steevan Coutinho, Assistant Parish Priest , Mr Leo Rodrigues, Vice President, Mr Jerald Moras, Secretary and all the parishioners. Then the solemn procession was led to the Church where a meaningful prayer service was held. Later on, the Bishop prayed for all the departed members of our parish and blessed the church cemetery.
After the prayer service Bishop along with the parish priests' team had a finance committee and parish pastoral council meeting, where all the reports of the works done were presented and Bishop did a brief S.W.O.T analysis of the parish. After the meeting, the entire PPC members had lunch with Bishop.
In the afternoon, Bishop had a meeting with all members of the Educational Institutions, including the Principal and teaching staff. After the meeting Bishop visited the religious houses of the parish i.e, Salesian Sisters, Ursuline Sisters and Carmelite Fathers.
On Sunday, at 8:00 AM Bishop took catechism for students and afterwards catechism to entire parishioners where Bishop focused on the Church teachings. Then he celebrated the Holy Eucharist and prayed for all the parishioners.
After the mass, he had a short meeting with the parents of the seminarians. Then all association members of the parish gathered together for a meeting and presented their reports.
In the evening the Bishop paid a visit to sick members of two families and gave communion to them. Finally he attended a S.C.C meeting and winded up the Pastoral visit.
