On 21 May 2023, the Madanthayar Parishioners bid a loving farewell to their beloved parish priest Fr Basil Vas who will be leaving on May 23 to take up his new posting as parish priest of Sacred Heart Church Varkady, Kasaragod.

After the Holy Eucharist, the farewell program was comprised of speeches and felicitation. Fr William Dsouza, Fr Jerome Dsouza, Fr Deepak D’sa, Vice-president, secretary of parish council, Richard Moras 21 commission coordinator, Superiors of convents and guest priests were present for the program.

The program commenced with a prayer dance led by YCS members. Mr. Jearald Moras Vice -president of Parish council welcomed the guests and gathering.

The Common refrain that was heard from the speakers on the contribution of their shepherd was that a man of prayer, a lover of nature and a great visionary. He has been greatly instrumental in uniting the flock. He also contributed a lot in the education field. He has led his flock for the last six years with love and concern. His attitude towards poor people is an inspiration to all.

Fr Basil Vas in his message, looking back on his six years in Sacred Heart Church Madanthyar, shared his deepest sentiments of gratitude to his flock. He explained the need for cooperation and participation in building up a parish. The true nature of the church is to be communion. His message and insights were indeed touching.
 
Mr. Nelson proposed a vote of thanks and Mr. Richerd Moras compered the  program.
